Poor George. He's never seen any movies. Rather than mourn their dear friend, Travis and Dan have taken it upon themselves to show him what he is missing. But they don't stop at showing him famous movies! They also help George to understand how each film fits into the Great Narrative of Film. Not only THAT the film of the week is significant, but WHY and HOW. Also, they make jokes and stuff.

Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)

Wednesday Nov 11, 2020
We were lucky to avoid a mutiny when George found out that hockey-masked slasher Jason was neither masked nor slashing in the original Friday the 13th. We promised him that we would make it up to him by provided the exact lumbering and hockey-masked Jason (which he was promised by Freddy vs Jason) in Friday the 13th Part 2. We lied. But how will he take it?
Will George (once again) be disappointed at the lack of hockey-masked slashers? How will Travis cope with the revelations within regarding The Town that Dreaded Sundown? Why is Dan really so hung up on the jurisdictional issues surrounding the police of Crystal Lake?
This episode contains a standard-length episode with an additional second half containing analysis and evaluation of two films: The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976) and A Bay of Blood (1971). Both films are significant influences on Friday the 13th Part 2. As it stands, you can listen to the episode without once pausing or referencing the movies discussed. But, as you will hear, the effects on first-time-viewers George and Travis are substantial.
During the episode Dan announces the time stamps for Town, if you would like to pause the show and watch the clips you should do so! The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976) is available at time of publishing on Amazon Prime (or on Blu-Ray). A Bay of Blood can be found on YouTube and is also available on Blu-Ray. We have condensed our live viewings for time (and for listenability) but you are encouraged to use the maps below to watch the clips before George and Travis.

George hasn't seen Friday the 13th, but he has seen Freddy Vs. Jason. And he is excited to see if Jason's first outing can match what Halloween did with Michael Myers.
Will George be disappointed at the lack of hockey-masked slashers? Does Travis share more geographical insight? Can Dan manage to ruin another movie for Travis?

George hasn't seen Halloween. He doesn't know the horrors that await. But Travis and Dan insist he put on the coveralls and Captain Kirk mask to really get into Michael Myers' skin and experience John Carpenter's masterpiece.
Will George ever figure out the geography of Haddonfield? Can Travis ever find it in his heart to forgive Dan for ruining this movie for him? Does Dan's theory on Michael Myers' FBI profile hold water? Join us and find out!

The Matrix (1999)

Tuesday Oct 13, 2020
Not News: George hasn't seen the Matrix. Big News: George has wanted to see this one for a long time. Travis and Dan are here too, but for once George was actually anticipating this one. Does that change things?
Did George finally learn to let a movie take him on a journey without him trying to ruin the ending for himself? Why is Travis talking about a certain human appendage? What insane conspiracy theory is Dan ranting about?

Can George make sense of the calamity? Does Travis ever find out the truth about Tammy Wynette? Why is Dan giving hot takes about The Predator during a Blues Brothers podcast? Tune in and find out!

George has seen the Nolan trilogy, but he has no idea what he is in for with the Tim Burton version of Batman. Travis and Dan, Prince soundtrack in hand, are here to rescue George from his own naivete.

Stand By Me (1986)
Tuesday Oct 13, 2020
Tuesday Oct 13, 2020
George hasn't seen Stand By Me. Sadly, by now you and we realize that this is no surprise. It is, instead, an opportunity. Travis and Dan take this opportunity to chase him with metaphorical trains and leaches right into a classic 80s nostalgia trip into the past.
Why is George so empathetic to the leach incident? Is Travis a victim of nostalgia, or a perpetrator? Why is Dan feeling new levels of dread because of this flick? Join us and find out!

George hasn't seen RoboCop. He doesn't know what a "Robo Cop" looks like. We aren't even sure he knows what a "Robot Cop" will be. So to fix it, Travis and Dan throw him in a metaphorical 80s Ford Taurus and dispatch him to a classic action movie!
Does it really matter what year this movie takes place in? Is Dan going to punch George? Will Travis bother to stop him? Join us and find out!

Is it Party Time? Is it excellent? Is that what she said, really?

Psycho (1960)
Tuesday Oct 13, 2020
Tuesday Oct 13, 2020
A week ago, George didn't even realize that there was a movie called Psycho. A crying shame, we know, but did that horrifying revelation stop Travis and Dan from bring George to the Bates Motel? It did not. Today they do so, and with vigor!
Will George enjoy a black and white movie for the first time? How could Travis use Psycho as a road to Valhalla? Could George react as... vividly?... as the last "first time watcher" that Dan scared with Psycho? Join us and find out!
